Fiorese Mauro

The works by Mauro Fiorese (Verona, 1970-2016) are part of European and American Collections (Museum of Fine Arts in Houston, Texas, Bibliothèque Nationale de France in Paris, Museum of Contemporary Photography in Milan). In the United States was featured in the 1997 edition of the Ernst Haas/Golden Light Award's TOP 100 World Photographers list and, in 2012, he exhibited at the George Eastman House in Rochester, (New York) the first and most important American museum dedicated to Photography and Cinema. In January 2016 he was invited as a Cultural Leader at the World Economic Forum in Davos.

Mauro Fiorese was born in 1970 in Verona.

Mauro Fiorese has been an author and professor of photography for over twenty years, lecturing at both the Accademia di Belle Arti and the University in Verona, at IED, the European Institute of Design in Milan, and at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. 

His works are in private and public collections in Europe and America (Museum of Fine Arts in Houston, Texas, Bibliothèque Nationale de France in Paris, Museo di Fotografia Contemporanea in Milan). 
His works have received prizes and have been exhibited since 1996 in Europe, Japan, Canada and the US and were shown at the 54th Venice Biennale in 2011. They have also gone under the hammer at Sotheby’s and at many other international auctions. 

In the United States he was one the TOP 100 World Photographers in the 1997 edition of the Ernst Haas/Golden Light Award and, in 2012, he exhibited at the George Eastman House in Rochester (New York), the first and most important American museum devoted to photography and cinema.
He has organised a number of meetings on artist-auteur photography and has curated exhibitions of some of the greatest masters of contemporary photography at the Centro Internazionale di Fotografia Scavi Scaligeri of the City of Verona. 

His U.Pho.S. Unidentified Photographic Subject project was included in From the Photographic Art to the Art of Photography, published by Alinari 24 Ore and exhibited, in 2014, on the occasion of the 3rd Quadriennale Düsseldorf. 
Mauro Fiorese is the 2015 CODICE MIA Award winner with the project Treasure Rooms. The Foundation Domus acquired an artwork by the will of a committee led by Luca Massimo Barbero.

In January 2016 he was invited as Cultural Leader at World Economic Forum of Davos.

He died after a illness in Verora at the age of 46 in December 2016. There’s a documentary about his life in the works.
